Help Polly Help Beat Cancer

Polly Letofsky, a 39-year-old American woman, began her walking expedition around the world on Aug. 1, 1999.  Already she has walked from Colorado to the U.S. Pacific Coast, the length of New Zealand and the length of Australia.  She has trekked through Southeast Asia from Singapore through Malaysia.  On Jan. 22, 2002, Polly will have hopefully reached her destination of Chiang Mai, Thailand.  And we can be waiting for her.

Polly has selected the Regional Cancer Center in Lampang as the benefactor of the money she raises during her walk in Thailand.

The Royal Chiang Mai Golf Course & Resort on Mae Jo Prao Road has joined the many international businesses to help Polly raise money for the disease that affects women around the world.  Thus: The Polly Letofsky Golf Competition on Wednesday, Jan 23, 2002 with a 12:30 p.m. tee-off time.  The competition is a challenge of skill and also a challenge to raise much-needed funds for breast cancer awareness and education.

The competition is limited to only 24 participants, so golf enthusiasts should sign up soon with Randy Gaudet or Ms. Ott (All Thailand Experiences) at 053-248-859 or Margaret Bhadungzong (Welcome to Chiangmai & Chiangrai Magazine) at 053-247-083 or 053-260-705. Please book before January 20, 2002 with one of the above persons.  The fee is 1,000 baht.

And walkers:  call Margaret to volunteer to walk along with Polly.  You company will be warmly appreciated.

According to  Ambassador Hecklinger's office in Bangkok, Polly has been in contact with them for several months.  She'll be leaving Bangkok on Dec. 17 to start walking north and told the office that she plans to arrive Chiang Mai on or about Jan 22.

Mrs. Hecklinger wanted to walk with Polly, but unfortunately there will not be a walk-a-thon through Bangkok.

Polly keeps a journal online at http://www.globalwalk.org --so you can follow her travels and see what she thinks about her experience by logging on.
