A step for cancer, a stride for womankind

....The petite American, on a one-woman crusade "to raise both awareness and funds for breast cancer", arrived in Calcutta on Wednesday night.  GlobalWalk has already taken the "adventurer" from the west coast of American to New Zealand,  Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

After the flag-off by the Governor at Raj Bhavan on Sunday, she will set out on Bombay Road for the four-and-a-half month journey, on foot, to Mumbai.

The 39 year old sports two badges: a brooch in the shape of a pink ribbon (for breast cancer awareness), and a Lions Club pin.  Polly will be accompanied by a support vehicle from Lions Club on her trek across India.

....Polly Letofsky has walked 10,495 km in the direction toweards eradicating breast cancer from the world.

The iron lady walks around 20 miles each day, three days at a stretch and takes a break on the fourth day...

Walking the world for a cause

....Polly Letofsky is an active campaigner against breast cancer.  She is in the city to promote her cause and will attend an interactive seminar tomorrow on "awareness on breast cancer and coping with it."

"I love walking.  But a bigger passion is to increase people's awareness about breast cancer and its treatment," Ms Letofsky said to day after meeting doctors in a city hospital.

Breast cancer campaign

Global campaigner for the awareness on breast cancer, Polly Letofsky 939), will arrive in Kolkata on Wednesday.  She will participate in a seminar on awareness o breast cancer, to be attended by doctors, social workers and those suffering from the disease.  The International Association of Lions Club is organising this leg of Letofsky's journey.
