How does one find the stamina to walk around the world?
Well, a good breakfast at the Galley Restaurant helps. A good cause helps too. Polly Letofsky of Vail Colo., made lake City mile No. 12,369 on her walk around the world to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and treatment. Polly arrived in lake City late Friday afternoon and was given a place to stay at the Willows condominiums. Saturday morning she was met by a contingent from the Lake City Lions Club who joined her for the walk along the Riverwalk to the Galley where the group had breakfast. From here, she went on to Wabasha, Plainview and Rochester. The global walker starter her trip in 1999 and has traveled across 22 countries and four continents. So far she has raised $120,000. Polly is now close to home for the rest of her journey. She was born and raised in Minneapolis. She will complete her journey sometime next year when she reaches her current home in Vail, Colo. People can follow her travels on her web site, www.globalwalk.org. People also can send donations to Breast Cancer Fund, 2107 O'Farrell St., San Francisco, CA 94115-3419 Lions International has been assisting and supporting Polly in her global walk since she met a woman in Australia who heard her story and thought the Lions should help. |
